Summary

By using fine-tuned genomic analysis coupled with refined epidemiological data, in a long-term population-based genomic surveillance program in a challenging scenario due to high rates of migration, we can propose whether a TB case is due to ongoing transmission, reactivation, or delayed diagnosis, which allows for tailored responses. These include expanding and reinforcing contact tracing, optimising preventive treatment and identifying non-diagnosed cases.
