Roland Brosch obtained his PhD at the University of Salzburg in Austria, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and the Institut Pasteur in Paris. He then integrated into the scientific staff of the Institut Pasteur and directs there now the Integrated Mycobacterial Pathogenomics Unit, leading an innovative research program on genomics and evolution of mycobacteria, type VII secretion systems and refined treatment and vaccine concepts against tuberculosis and pathogenic mycobacteria.
