Margarida Santos Saraiva

Margarida Saraiva graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Porto, Portugal, and obtained her PhD in Virology by the University of Cambridge, UK. During her post-doc with Anne O’Garra, Margarida Saraiva investigated the molecular mechanisms that regulate the expression of interleukin-10 by immune cells. In 2015, Margarida Saraiva became a group leader at i3S-Porto to study how Mycobacterium tuberculosis modulates the immune response to impact on tuberculosis severity, combining data from human cohorts, experimental models and in vitro systems.
